Police have made an arrest following a robbery in Wolverhampton where a member of staff was threatened with a knife and stock was stolen.

It happened at the One Stop store on Prestwood Road on 30th June.

A 46-year-old man was detained by local officers on Chesterton Road on suspicion of robbery.

West Midlands Police said:

"The arrest formed part of our work to tackle retail crime and making our streets safer, known as #SaferStreetsSummer.

"The Safer Streets summer town and city centre initiative is running from 30 June until 30 September, in over 500 town centres and high streets across England and Wales.

"People will see increased police presence, stronger prevention and enforcement action by police and councils to support safer high streets this summer.

"If you have information about local crime, call us on 101 so we can act to make Wolverhampton safer for everyone".
