John Campion re-elected as West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner
It's after voters went to the polls across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire on Thursday.

Conservative John Campion has been re-elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for West Mercia.
He beat Labour's Richard Overton, Henry Curteis from the English Democrats, The Green Party's Julian Dean and Sarah Murray from the Liberal Democrats.
Mr Campion was first elected in May 2016, to the role previously held by an Independent PCC.
Over the last 8 years, he has overseen policing matters across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire and said his focus remains on cutting crime, supporting victims and creating safer roads.
The total number of votes were:
- John Campion (CONS) - 73,395
- Richard Overton (LAB) - 63,082
- Sarah Murray (LIB DEM) - 33,782
- Julian Dean (GREEN) - 22,021
- Henry Curteis (ENGLISH DEM) - 21,645
What is the role of the PCC?
Created in 2012, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) role replaced the previous work of Police Authorities.
The PCC role includes:
- Ensuring public views are heard within policing
- Holding the Chief Constable to account
- Ensuring appropriate services are in place for victims of crime
- Setting the local police budget and determining levels of council tax
The West Mercia PCC covers three counties, Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, serving more that 1.2 million people.
The urban areas the force serves includes Hereford, Kidderminster, Redditch, Shrewsbury, Telford and Worcester.
