Exeter and Plymouth host 'rival' Santa fun runs on the same morning
Both events aim to help support local charities
They might be rivals on the football pitch, and it seems today Plymouth and Exeter are rivals when it comes to Santa runs.
Both cities are today staging their own charity fundraising events.
What's happening in Exeter?
The Santa Run is a 2.5k or 5k event open to runners, walkers, and families of all ages. Starting on the High Street at 9am, it’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season and enjoy a morning of festive fun in your Santa suit.
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of Exeter City Community Trust, said: “The Santa Run is one of our favourite events of the year - a truly joyful way to start the Christmas season.
"Seeing a sea of Santas taking over the city centre never fails to raise a smile. It’s a fun, family-friendly event that captures the spirit of Exeter and helps raise vital funds for programmes and activities which support local people.”
What's happening in Plymouth?
The Plymouth Santa Fun Run is a 2.5 km or 5 km run with all the runners dressed in Santa Suits. The route takes the runners past many of the iconic sights of old Plymouth. Having reached capacity (which is limited by the size of the Commercial Wharf), registrations are now closed by charity donationscan still be made here
