Just in time for the Easter break, racing fans old and young now have the opportunity to try their hand at racing a virtual Formula One car.

Northamptonshire's Silverstone has launched its brand new simulator suite for gamers, in the heart of the museum.

The seven pro grade simulator rigs will offer an authentic driving experience on over 400 tracks, including the iconic Silverstone itself.

Home to the F1 British Grand Prix, Silverstone attracts more than a million visitors every year.

Speaking about the launch, Silverstone Museum CEO Phil Lawrie said: "Easter is our first big visitor weekend and the sim suite has been completely redesigned to offer an authentic driving experience.

"The equipment we use is cutting edge technology and it really gives you a realistic feel for what it would actually be like to drive a car.

"This facility is optimised for the best visitor experience, we do some great competitions on the simulators including our recent beat Alonso's time in the 2005 Renault.

"It's a big part of our engagement, they come into the museum to see all the fantastic racing history and then they're inspired to turn their hand on the sim's to experience this great circuit."
