Flooding in Oxfordshire continues to cause issues this morning (Wednesday 27th November).

Police have closed Abingdon Road at Weirs Lane due to flooding. All bus services are currently using Iffley Road and the Bypass between Redbridge and Oxford City Centre.

In a statement a spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue say crews have now assessed the scene at Abingdon Road:

"The road will be temporarily closed for as short a time as possible while water is pumped away. Once that has happened the road will be reopened as soon as practical. Water levels in the area currently do not appear to be rising any further."

There are 22 flood warnings across the county with rain this morning and with some rivers rising. They include the River Cherwell in Oxford and the River Thames and Ock in Abingdon.

Oxfordshire MPs including Witney MP Charlie Maynard questioned why funding to model the River Windrush had been lost in Parliament yesterday. The government say they're looking into the funding.

Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon Layla Moran told the Commons that the Environment Agency hadn't come to her constituents' need.
