Whale washed up on North Yorkshire beach
A dog walker found the carcass at Wednesday at Reighton Sands near Filey
North Yorkshire Council has confirmed a whale that's washed up dead on a beach near Filey will be removed today (Friday, 22 September).
The coastguard was called to reports of the animal at Reighton Sands on Wednesday (20 September).
British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme had been informed, adding there had been a "slight increase" in strandings this year.
The council says the minke will be removed "first thing".
Only last week, a minke whale was found dead on the shore at Robin Hood's Bay near Whitby.
