A warning is in place for heavy rain and thunderstorms, until 6pm.

The Met Office published the warning as it came into force soon after 3pm today (Monday 7 June).

Officials say spray and sudden flooding could cause difficult driving conditions and road closures.

Public transport services could also be cancelled because of flooding or lightning strikes.

Some homes and businesses may experience power cuts, and a loss of other services.

The Met Office added: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."
