Two arrested after trying to ram-raid a Spar shop in Scarborough

They were reversing a car into the front of the premises

Police in Scarborough have arrested two local men involved in a ram-raid incident in the town.

It happened at around 2.15am today (Monday 7th March) at the Spar shop on Falsgrave Road when a silver Volkswagen Golf car was reversed into the front of the premises.

North Yorkshire Police say officers from its Firearms Support Unit were patrolling nearby and they arrived while the incident was on-going.

The men, aged 50 and 42, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary after being tasered.

They are currently being held in custody for questioning while enquiries are on-going in and around the shop.
