The Summer holidays is expected to bring a boost to the hospitality sector on the Yorkshire Coast.

It is as there will be an increase in visitors due to concerts, the weather, road racing and cricket.

It means accommodations will be booked up due to the demand.

Tony Bates, owner of Hotel Ellenby in Scarborough, said: "We've been surprised at a fairly late start. It's only really been the last couple of weeks we've seen the place starting to busy up. I would say now that rooms are very scarce and we have the addition here that our second Yorkshire Cricket match is actually starting on Monday and on top of that, we have Sir Tom Jones in concert.

"It's a great place and even some of our guests that have been coming for years haven't realised what there is to do. You've got the Moors if you travel in-land and I think the second thing is travelling abroad isn't very easy at the moment. Most people don't tend to move about when they're here. There are so many things to do and we've got the Castle in-between the two bays and we've got the Old Town.

"It is evolving and I think what you are seeing is far more hotel rooms now of the big chains and sadly many smaller hotels are closing, so what we've done is very much evolution not revolution. We've really updated the place and we've had people right from when we opened our doors in April right the way through."
