Scarborough’s Park and Ride will operate fully from next week with the site at Seamer Road opening for the first time since 2019.

From Monday 21st June, the Seamer Road site will offer buses into the centre of Scarborough every day except Wednesdays throughout the summer, allowing visitors and those working in the town a quick and hassle-free journey.

Buses started running from the Filey Road Park and Ride site when restrictions were lifted in April as more people started to visit the town.

From Monday, buses will run from both the Seamer Road and Filey Road sites at least every 15 minutes from just after 7am (9am on Sundays), with buses back from Aquarium Top (South Bay) or York Place until around 6.45pm.

Ben Gilligan, Area Director at East Yorkshire, said:

“We’re pleased the Park and Ride will be fully operational from next week as even more people flock to enjoy our beautiful Yorkshire coast.

“The Park and Ride is the easiest way to get into Scarborough and helps reduce congestion for everyone visiting.”

Buses are safe and clean, with social distancing in place and face coverings required unless exempt. Passengers are asked to pay by contactless or buy an app ticket in advance if they can, and to not travel if they feel unwell.

Both Park and Ride sites offer lots of free parking, toilets and enclosed waiting areas with social distancing measures in place.

For more information and ticket prices, see the East Yorkshire website at eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk or download the EY Buses app on Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Michael Leah, North Yorkshire County Council’s Assistant Director Travel and Environment, said:

“Following refurbishment of the Seamer Road park and ride building by the County Council, passengers can expect a quality, safe and frequent service to the centre of Scarborough. The park and ride continues to be valued by its users. It also helps reduce congestion in the town as well as having a positive environmental impact through reduced vehicle emissions.”
