Scarborough tops 5,000 Coronavirus cases
5,0004 infections have now been recorded in the borough, since the pandemic began.
Scarborough has recorded more than 5,000 confirmed coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
The borough passed the milestone last night, after 10 new cases pushed the overall total to 5,004.
Scarborough recorded its 4,000th case on December 30.
By comparison, it took the borough almost seven months to record its first 1,000 cases when the pandemic began in March.
Government figures also show that 181 people have now died in the borough, within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test since March last year. On November 1, the figure was 72.
The borough’s seven day infection rate per 100,000 people in Scarborough remains at 109, the same as yesterday.
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week.

William Street Coach Park, in Scarborough, is still offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.
