Scarborough Borough’s Covid-19 infection rate has jumped up once more after 59 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Scarborough Borough’s Covid-19 infection rate has jumped up once more after 59 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
The borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 184 cases per 100,000 people, up from 175 yesterday.
On November 29 the borough’s rate dropped to 121, it’s lowest level since October, but it has risen steadily ever since.
Over the last seven days, the borough averaged 29 new cases a day.
Scarborough’s rate remains below the average for England, which stands at 217.
The average rate for North Yorkshire has also risen slightly to 108 from 101.
Today, the Government will announce the results of its Tier restrictions review and whether any areas will move up or down the alert levels.
Scarborough and North Yorkshire currently sit in the Tier 2 High level of restrictions.
Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.
