Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection rate has fallen below the national average once more.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 158 cases per 100,000 people, down from 163 this time last week.

Over the last seven days, the borough averaged 25 new cases a day.

It means that Scarborough’s is now once again below the average for England, which stands at 181.

The average rate for North Yorkshire is 96 and Scarborough’s rate, the highest in the county, is more than three times that of Hambleton which has dropped to 48.

This week, a decision will be made by the Government on the Tier restrictions and whether any areas will move up or down the alert levels.

Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Whitby’s Marina Car Park for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

Tomorrow testing will be is available at Filey County Park in Filey and at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site on Wednesday.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
