Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate has risen slightly ahead of the route out of lockdown being published.

On Monday Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce his roadmap out of lockdown.

North Yorkshire County Council chief executive Richard Flinton has said that the authority is ready for the scheduled return of schools on March 8.

In a newsletter to residents he said:

“Like you, we await the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday regarding how we will move as a nation, out of the lockdown.

“We are confident our schools will be ready to reopen and we will support them to do so at the appropriate time.

“I would like to pay tribute now to our head teachers, teaching staff, support staff, parents, pupils and governors for everything they have done so far during this pandemic to support learning and stay connected.”
