The Yorkshire Coast is set to welcome displays from the Red Arrows this summer.

They will be performing a flypast in Scarborough on Saturday the 25th of June, as the town's hosting the Armed Forces Day National Event.

In August, the Red Arrows will also take to the skies at Whitby Regatta.

Flight Lieutenant, David Simmonds, said: "We'll be up to Scarborough looking to do a flypast, one at Whitby and Filey on the same day. It gets really busy and that's what it's all about for us. As much as we possibly can, where we can, we'll get onto the ground as well and we'll try and meet as many people as we can to share our message and hopefully people will get to see us fly.

"We've done one up in Scarborough before but it's always a very special day to go up there and to be celebrating Armed Forces weekend. For all of the people in this country that represents the forces, it's great to be able to fly on their behalf, on our behalf and to represent the Royal Air Force and the wider Armed Forces as well.

"We're really looking forward to bringing all of our winter training that we've been doing and pulling it all together in a show. We're ready to take that on the road and we're really looking forward to meeting as much of the public as much as we can, and bringing that flypast and display elements to the public."
