Urgent request in Scarborough for supplies to be sent to Ukraine
The Rainbow Centre is issuing the appeal as it's working with Jacob's Well who will deliver the aid
There has been an urgent request for donations of supplies to be sent straight to Ukraine.
The Rainbow Centre has issued the appeal as it is working with Jacob's Well who will be delivering it to the country next week.
They are looking for:
- Hygiene packs - shower gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, moisturiser, flannels.
- Sanitary pads / tampons.
- Baby clothes age 0-2 only.
- Nappies of all sizes.
- Small children's toys (eg. colouring books, crayons, doll, cars).
- Underwear for all ages and genders.
- Tinned fruit, meat and veg plus rice, pasta and cereal (best before date must be at least a year away).
- Medical products like bandages.
- The Rainbow Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm.
- Manager Trish Kinsella said: "We asked the community for help with the Rainbow Centre so many times; that's for our client groups, people who live here, people who have come from Afghanistan and Syria. We ask and they always come up trumps. Scarborough is an amazing community. We're just asking for this one push with this and we're just asking them to get behind it.
- "We've been asked specifically to get these items because these will be going straight to the villages, town, tunnels and all those places that people are staying in Ukraine. If Scarborough could just once again pull out all the stops, which I know they can, and just give us this help it would be amazing.
- "It's our way of helping, not just our way here at the Rainbow Centre but people's way of helping and just trying to bring something, especially like crayons and children's books, to a child who has nothing and they're sat in a tunnel wondering when they're going to get out. It's just trying to help them."
