Campaigners "panicked" over decision to axe Selby-Doncaster bus service
A petition to save the 405 now has more than 700 signatures
Campaigners say losing a key bus service between Doncaster and Selby is going to be an absolute nightmare and they are panicking about how they'll get around.
The 405 will run for the last time next Monday.
For some North Yorkshire villages it's the only public transport they have.
A petition has been set up to try and save the service. It was started by Danielle Hobson who says "It is heart breaking to read people's comments on the petition, some people are losing their jobs, elderly people completely cut off socially, can't get to Selby or Doncaster to do their shopping. It's a lifeline for many a lot of people. It's the only one bus service that went through there anyway.
In a statement Arriva said "There will be changes to some routes and timetables, more frequent services to popular destinations and some new destinations served – including some brand-new routes too. Whilst some services will see reductions where demand has fallen, other services are enhanced as we react to new patterns of demand."
Arriva also say "We will be taking over First Bus service 51 between Norton and Doncaster. This service will have a new route via Toll Bar and Bentley to partly replace services 405, 408 and 409."
