North Yorkshire Police are urging locals in Selby to check CCTV and dashcam footage after two girls were approached by a man in a black car.

The force say it happened on Friday evening (June 30) on Hawthorn Road, with the man committing an indecent act in the car between 7.40pm and 7.45pm.

He is reported to have stopped in his car to ask the two girls for information about local fast food restaurants, with 'his trousers and underwear pulled down, indecently touching himself'.

Officers believe the car's been identified after extensive enquiries - with efforts now being made to track down the suspect.

Extensive police enquiries are ongoing in the neighbourhood, including house-to-house, CCTV and ANPR (automatic number plate recognition), in the effort to track down the suspect.

Officers believe they have identified the car involved, and North Yorkshire Police say a further update will be issued when the vehicle has been located and the suspect arrested.

In the meantime, the police are urging residents in and around the Hawthorn Road area of Selby to check private CCTV, ring doorbell, and dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident on Friday evening.
