"Immediate action required"

There are 2 flood warnings in place, meaning flooding is expected, and immediate action is required.

On the River Ouse at Naburn Lock, people are being asked to avoid low-lying roads and footpaths in the vicinity, as they may be flooded.

In York, owners of riverside properties next to the Ouse are being asked to activate their flood defences, such as flood barriers and air brick covers.

It's been caused by heavy rainfall in the upper catchment, that's trickled down to lower areas.

"Flooding is possible - be prepared"

There are four flood alerts in force in York and North Yorkshire, meaning flooding is possible.

In the Maunby area, near Northallerton, low-level paths on the Lower River Swale may be flooded.

Another alert is in place for the Tidal River Ouse from Naburn Lock to Selby. The tide levels aren't currently a concern, but some paths and roads may be flooded.

The Lower River Derwent near Elvington Sluices could also be affected by floodwater.

The Upper River Ouse could also affect nearby footpaths, roads, car parks and land.
