Scarborough's Armed Forces Day National Event is now just TWO days away.

We have been highlighting some of the events on Saturday all week which include parades, demonstrations on land and sea and flight displays.

We are expecting Royalty as well as at least one senior Government politician.

Dorinda Wolfe-Murray, Chief Executive of the FirstLight Trust charity, which supports veterans in Scarborough, said: "Scarborough is brilliant for us because we have presence down on the seafront, we've got our cafe hub which is humming on Newborough. I know they've been baking fit to burst for all sorts of stuff and we're increasingly known in Scarborough because of the support we deliver.

"We literally do everything from food parcels. We work with a neighbour scheme and supermarkets, who are amazing, right the way through to weddings and funerals via support of all sorts like housing or getting pips sorted out.

"It's primarily going to be for us it'll be a case of 'look, we're here. We're still here' unlike lots of other organisations who've really suffered horrendously with the Covid situation. We're still working, we're still doing and it'll be lovely to see you.

"Scarborough has lots of housing associations that we work with so it's all about the collaborative piece. For us the other organisations and the statutory services in particular are usually really good, they're just missing the bits and pieces that we can help supply.

"We do it on so many levels and I really feel very strongly that that's really important. Scarborough supports us, the Firstlight Trust, so the very least we can do is support Scarborough and the people who are so incredibly generous to us. It has to be a two-way street otherwise what's the point?"
