Money to improve Filey seafront has been welcomed by a local councillor.

Mike Cockerill sits on Scarborough Borough and the Town Council and has been reacting to £2 million pounds going into the budget for 'Project Sunshine', which is a scheme to smarten up the seaside areas of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby.

He said some ideas and work has already begun:

"The toilets which has already started. There's been a lot of working done on the paddling pool, on the new seawall, looking at chalets on the new seawall, hopefully replacing them, there's the crazy golf that needs updating and the compass fountain.

"Certainly it's been promised that the whole length of the railings along the seawall are going to be stripped back to the bare metal and re-painted."
