Extra train services are set to be introduced by TransPennine Express next month to and from Scarborough.

From 16 August 2021, the train company will be bringing in some extra services between York and Scarborough as well as starting to run some trains to and from the seaside town, all the way through to Manchester again, increasing connectivity for people.

Commenting on the additional services, Luke Gardner, Long Term Planning Timetable Manager for TransPennine Express said:

“Now that the school summer holidays have started, many families will be busy planning days out to keep their little ones entertained and a trip to the seaside is always a firm favourite.

“We are expecting our trains to and from Scarborough to be popular and wanted to introduce some extra services to and from the town to accommodate this. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers onboard and I would encourage people to plan their journeys in advance and book ahead.”

The changes are as follows:

• 15.29 Manchester – Scarborough – daily service

• 15.34 Scarborough – Manchester – daily service

• 09.00 Manchester – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only

• 11.21 Scarborough – York – Saturdays/Sundays only

• 16.26 York – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only

• 18.11 Scarborough – Manchester – Saturdays/Sundays only
