Cyclist injured near Filey by car that failed to stop

Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident

Filey Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a cyclist was injured by a car that failed to stop near to the town.

It happened on Scarborough Road near Lea Farm at around 6.20pm yesterday (Sunday 22nd August) when the cyclist, a man in his 60s, was knocked from his bike and suffered a head injury. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and drove off.

Officers say the cyclist remains in hospital and is being treated for concussion and shock.

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, they ask that the driver of the vehicle comes forward and anyone who can help officers in locating the driver.
