The borough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people is now 249, down from 280 yesterday.

Two weeks ago, Scarborough’s infection rate stood at 611, the second-highest in England.

Scarborough’s infection rate remains above the average for England, which is now 188.

Yesterday, it was announced that Scarborough and North Yorkshire, along with York, would be placed into the middle ‘High’ Tier 2 restrictions from December 2 when lockdown ends.

The rest of Yorkshire was placed into Tier 3, which has the highest level of restrictions, however, local leaders also warned there was no room for complacency as the county enters a dangerous phase with the end of lockdown.

Tomorrow, a mobile testing facility will be at Filey Country Park and Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing, seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments must be booked in advance.
