Scarborough Coronavirus rate falls again
The borough's seven-day infection rate has gone down again.
Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection is once again falling, after a slight rise earlier in the week.
After 15 cases were added yesterday, the borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 128 cases per 100,000 people - down from 147 yesterday, which had been a slight increase on Monday’s figure of 146.
Over the last seven days, the borough has averaged 20 cases a day.
It means that Scarborough’s infection rate remains below the average for England, which is now 154 and has once again fallen behind Selby, which now has the highest rate in North Yorkshire at 135.
Scarborough is now level with Craven, which also has a rate of 128. The average for North Yorkshire is now 107.
The borough’s overall total number of cases, since the start of the pandemic, is now 2,890.
The borough, along with the rest of North Yorkshire and York, is now in the Tier 2 High Alert restrictions which limit household mixing and only allow pubs and restaurants to serve alcohol with a “substantial” meal.
Today, a mobile testing facility is at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site.
Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments must be booked in advance.
