Slight rise in Scarborough's Coronavirus infection rate
The borough's seven-day rate has gone up by 1.
Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection has risen slightly, after 10 more cases were added to the borough’s total in the last 24 hours.
The borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 147 cases per 100,000 people, up 1 on yesterday but down from 330 last week and 570 two weeks ago.
Over the last seven days, the borough has averaged 23 cases a day.
It means that Scarborough’s infection rate remains below the average for England, which is now 156, but the borough once again has the highest rate in North Yorkshire after Selby’s figure dropped to 142.
The borough’s overall total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now 2,875.
Tomorrow, the borough, along with the rest of North Yorkshire and York, will be placed into the Tier 2 High Alert restrictions, which limit household mixing and only allow pubs and restaurants to serve alcohol with a “substantial” meal.
Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Filey Country Park, before visiting Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site tomorrow.
Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments must be booked in advance.
