Overnight burglary police patrols in Scarborough and Whitby
Teams were out and about overnight as part of North Yorkshire Police's 'Proactive Fortnight'
North Yorkshire Police were out and about overnight in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale areas conducting burglary patrols.
It took place from yesterday (Tuesday 16th) to today (Wednesday 17th) as part of their 'Proactive Fortnight' that started this week.
- In Scarborough, the focus was largely on residential areas with officers on the lookout for suspicious individuals and vehicles.
- In Whitby and Ryedale, the patrols concentrated on rural locations with particular attention given to agricultural buildings.
- A mixture of marked and unmarked police vehicles were used during the operation. There was also had officers in plain clothes out on foot in Scarborough.
North Yorkshire Police said:
"It turned out to be a steady overnight shift with no burglary-related incidents to report.
"However, just after 2am on Larpool Lane in Whitby, a man riding a motorcycle failed to stop for officers after they became suspicious of what he was doing in the area.
"The man, who was wearing light-coloured bottoms and had a rucksack on his back, made-off along the moor road towards the Cleveland Police border where observations were put out for the suspect vehicle.
