12 to 15-year-olds in North Yorkshire are being invited to book an appointment at the county's mass vaccination site in York.

Today (22nd October), the booking system online will be available for this age group to book a session at Askham Bar.

Walk-ins are not permitted for under-16s, so appointments must be booked, although there are over 2000 available during the half term holiday next week.

Prof Mike Holmes, chair of the site's operator, Nimbuscare, explained: "Our Nimbuscare vaccination programme is well placed to support the vaccination of these young people and our teams are really pleased to have been called on to help with this important new cohort.

"We hope that young people in York and North Yorkshire will be reassured that we can offer a great service and will follow in the footsteps of their older colleagues to come and get their vaccine from us here at Askham Bar."

Clinics will start tomorrow (Saturday 23rd October), and parents and young people attending are being advised to wrap up warm, be prepared for wet weather and drink plenty of fluids.

Nimbuscare is also asking patients not to arrive earlier than necessary, to avoid waiting.
