England's Lionesses are gearing up for their UEFA Women's Euro Final this afternoon against Spain.

We've been hearing from a Norfolk girls football club, about the influence of international competitions like this on girls interest in the sport.

Yaxham FC Wildcats Coach Carl tells us his girls team numbers rocketed after the last Euros win.

With the trophy in sight for England, he expects even more young players to take up the sport:

"I was coaching girls football before the last win and and then when they won it, it was a big impact across all our centres.

"We had so many more girls coming, more girls just want to get involved. So I think it would be an even bigger boost. I think, you know, more girls want to be getting involved."

He says his young players are constantly improving, as they keep a keen eye on their idols' success:

"So with women's and girls football in general, obviously, it just gets bigger and bigger each year and and seeing these girls, each week turning up in Lionesses shirts, new name on the back of their shirt, you can sort of see what it means to them.

"Some of these girls go on and play in teams, they they get more comfortable, they get better at football themselves and that confidence grows."

Meanwhile The Prince of Wales has wished the Lionesses good luck ahead of their Women's Euros final with Spain tomorrow.

William, who'll be attending the match in Switzerland as FA patron, wrote online "the nation is so proud".

England are defending champions but lost to Spain in the 2023 World Cup final.
