Sunderland MP announces decision to step down at July General Election
The Sunderland Central MP has represented her constituents since 2010
Sunderland Central MP Julie Elliott is the latest MP to announce she will not be standing in July's general election.
She has represented Labour on Wearside since 2010, and released a statement, shared on social media, earlier today.
Last week North Durham MP Kevan Jones also announced he would not be standing in July's election, having represented Labour since 2001.
So far several North East and Teesside MPs have announced they will not be standing;

Julie Elliott, Sunderland Central (MP since 2010; majority 2,964)

Ian Mearns, Gateshead (MP since 2010; majority 7,200)

Nick Brown, Newcastle upon Tyne East (MP since 1983; formerly Labour; majority 15,463)
