NSPCC Ambassador DJ Schak appears at Europe’s largest funfair
DJ Schak was joined by a team of NSPCC fundraisers last night as Europe's largest funfair welcomed the UK’s leading charity to the Town Moor.
The NSPCC is on board as one of the event's charitable partners this year and hundreds of children were on site with volunteers from the charity who will be on site taking donations from the public until The Hoppings comes to a close on Sunday night.
The Hoppings - now in its 142nd year - is looking forward to an on-going partnership with the NSPCC and North Shields born and bred DJ-producer Schak – who shot to fame with his breakout single ‘Moving All Around (Jumpin)’ has been an advocate of the organisation since joining the charity's North East Network last year.
He said: “It's so important to me to protect and support children and it has always been something I strongly believe in. I didn’t realise the local impact of the NSPCC in the North East and just how many services they provide to help end abuse in all its forms. And it is not just children they support either, they also support parents too.
“We know this historic event is so important to the city and the wider region. They want to give something back to the local community. It’s great that they’ve put on this free event today for the kids and I hope everyone has a great week.”
The Hoppings - which has been coming to Newcastle's Town Moor since the late 1800s – hosts hundreds of the country's biggest and brightest attractions from traditional favourites to the latest jaw dropping thrill rides.
With over half a million visitors a year, the event hopes to create a legacy with the NSPCC.
The Hoppings Event Director Ryan Crow said: “We're delighted to have the NSPCC with us here this week and I'm glad to see that one of its biggest new stars is behind them and using his profile for good in the region. The Hoppings knows how much this event means to the region and we want to support our local communities in any way we can.”
NSPCC community fundraiser and North East Network organiser, Hayley Lynn, added: “It's fantastic to be here this week with Schak and all of our volunteers. Schak has demonstrated a real passion for what we do, and we know his efforts for us will have a huge impact on helping end child abuse throughout the region. We thank The Hoppings for supporting us and we look forward to a long and lasting partnership. Here's to the next 142 years!”
Launched in late 2023, the NSPCC's North East Network brings together the region's business and creative community to help raise awareness of the charity's work in the region to fight for every childhood
