Man dies following collision on A692 in County Durham

A man has died following a collision on the A692 in County Durham.

Emergency services were called shortly before 6am on Saturday 25, following reports of a collision between a white BMW 3 series estate and a silver Audi A4 estate.

It happened near Leadgate.

The occupant of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene, with a second occupant receiving treatment in hospital for a head injury.

The driver and passenger of the BMW were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out but has now reopened.

Police are asking are asking any witnesses to come forward.
