Man charged with attempted murder in Newcastle

A suspect has been charged with the attempted murder of another man in Newcastle.

At 11.45pm on Wednesday, October 23, the victim, a man in his 30s, was on New Bridge Street in the city, close to Manors Metro Station, when he was approached by an unknown male.

The male then assaulted the victim with a bladed article, leaving him with serious injuries to his face, neck and chest.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and later discharged.

A full investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police into the incident and on Tuesday, officers arrested a man in connection with the report.

The man – Scott Orr, 50, of Westbourne Avenue in Newcastle – has now been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday).

Officers investigating the assault remain keen to hear from any witnesses who were in the New Bridge Street area at the time of the incident, as well as those who may have dashcam footage from their vehicles.
