A man has been charged in connection with reports of two alleged sexual assaults in Newcastle.

Northumbria Police were called to Barrack Road early last Saturday (23rd August 2025), where a woman had been attacked.

When officers attended a second woman said she was also a victim.

Detectives say both women continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.

29 year old David Robson from Rosehill Way in Blakelaw has been charged with sexual assault, attempt to kidnap or falsely imprison with intent to commit a sexual offence and actual bodily harm.

He has been further charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and sexual assault in relation to the second report.

Mr Robson is due to appear before magistrates in Newcastle this morning (Saturday 30th August 2025).

Northumbria Police have confirmed Mr Robson is a white British man, in response to new rules given to forces on revealing ethnicity.

Detectives are urging the public to refrain from speculation – both online and in the community – which may jeopardise upcoming court proceedings.

They are also reminding the public that anyone who reports being a victim of sexual offences has the right to anonymity and should not be identified.

Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to get in touch with Northumbria Police by calling 101, sending a direct message on social media or by visiting the force's website.
