Kings Priory School in Tynemouth closed after threatening messages

Police say there is no credible threat to staff or pupils

Kings Priory School in Tynemouth has closed its doors today, 24th November 2025, after receiving malicious communications.

Northumbria Police were contacted by the school at around 4.30pm on Sunday. Officers carried out inquiries and determined there was no credible threat to the school, its pupils, or staff.

A spokesperson for the police said:

“Just after 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday), we received a report of malicious communications directed towards at a secondary school in North Tyneside.

“Officers attended immediately to carry out enquiries and a number of hours later established there to be no credible threat to the school, its pupils or staff.”

Kings Priory School issued a statement on Sunday confirming its closure today. Parents and guardians are advised to check ParentMail for additional updates.

Northumbria Police continue to investigate the incident.
