Kingston Park to host England U20s Six Nations fixture
Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park will proudly host the Under-20s Men’s Six Nations fixture between reigning world champions England and Scotland on Friday February 21, kicking off at 7.15pm.
The Round 3 tie will mark the U20 Men’s return to the North East for the first time since 2018, when they secured a 37-12 win over Wales at Kingston Park.
The U20s squad, led by head coach Mark Mapletoft and assistant coach Andy Titterrell, includes a 50-man Elite Player Squad (EPS) announced in September. This squad features 12 players with previous U20 caps and reflects the Men’s Professional Game Partnership initiative, aimed at providing more opportunities for players in the development phase.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Mapletoft said: “The lessons on offer for this EPS over the coming months are incredibly important for their development as rugby players. Playing at Premiership-level grounds will be a new challenge for many, but we still expect the performances to exceed the occasion.
“The opportunity to play in rugby strongholds, both home and away, are sure to create memorable experiences at two fantastic venues in particular next year. We’re thankful to our hosts in Bath and Newcastle and can’t wait to take to the field.
“With the primary goal of development in the men’s pathway remaining key, we now challenge these young men to tactically and mentally adapt to win with full intent on retaining the Six Nations in 2025.”
The match will be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer and S4C, ensuring fans can tune in for this crucial Six Nations clash.
