Woman treated for life-threatening injuries after being struck on Mancunian Way

The 20-year-old was rushed to hospital this morning

A pedestrian is being treated for life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Mancunian Way.

Police say the 20 year old woman was attempting to cross the west bound carriageway of the A57 just before 1.30 this morning.

Emergency services attended the scene and she was rushed to hospital.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police, said:

"At around 1:25am this morning (Saturday 8 October 2022), officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a female pedestrian on Mancunian Way.

"Emergency services attended the scene, and 20-year-old female has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

"Our initial enquiries suggest that the woman was walking towards the eastbound carriage way of the A57 (Mancunian Way), crosses the eastbound carriage way safely and waits in the central reservation of the carriage way.

"Upon attempting to cross the westbound carriageway, she is then struck.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident, have dash cam footage from that area during that time period or any information that could assist our enquiries is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting Log 222 of 08/10/2022."
