The investigation into an attack on a woman at the Hilton hotel on Deansgate continues as a woman is released from hospital and six people remain in custody.

Shortly after 11.10am on Monday 23 July 2018 police officers on Deansgate were flagged down by a woman with injuries to her neck.

The woman, aged 20, was taken to hospital for treatment to lacerations to her neck but has since been released from hospital.

Four men, aged 20, 24, 26 and 26 , a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl have all been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

There is still a scene in place whilst officers investigate, but there are no longer armed officers at the scene.

Detective Inspector Patrick Goodrich from GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “Our enquiries are still in the very early stages and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened within the hotel.

“Thankfully the woman’s injuries were less serious than first thought, but we could easily have been dealing with her death, the thought is terrifying.

“Anyone who may be able to help with our investigation is asked to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
