Woman left paralysed by drink driver calls for tougher punishments

There are calls for tougher punishments for drink-drivers After a man that caused life changing injuries to a Warringtom mum, and her friend - was allowed time off his sentence - to go on a stag do.
32 year old Hayley Jones from Warrington - can no longer walk since she was a passenger in the alcohol fuelled crash on the M61 last year, her friend Amy Baxter - still hasn't left hospital.
Jon Morton from Bolton pleaded guilty to drink driving - was banned from driving - and was meant to be kept on electronic tag for 20 weeks But he was let off to go to Portugal on a stag do .
Something that was brought up in Prime Minister's Questions' by Amy's local MP Jake Berry.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said:
"Our sympathies are with Amy Baxter and her family for being the blameless victims in this tragic case.
"Sentences are given by the independent judiciary and are based on the full facts of each case."
