'We talk about him every day' - 20 years on, the heartbroken family of missing Martin Joyce say they won't give up hope
Martin disappeared on September 5th 1999
Martin Joyce was last seen 19 years ago, at the Bank of England pub in Ancoats.
He had been at the pub with a friend and it was reported he may have gotten into a fight.
He hasn't been seen since.
Today would have been his 48th birthday. His family plan to go to his grave, to say hello and to speak to him, as well as the rest of the family buried there.
They will sing Happy Birthday to him - and his twin sister Barbara - and talk to his son about him.
"It's in my heart, he's still out there"
His sister Mary said she believes he is alive, despite the police launching a murder investigation two years ago:
"He's out there, he'll come back when he's ready to come back and I won't stop until he's ready. Hopefully now this reward's out there, someone will start speaking.
"He's always in our conversations every day, there's nephews and nieces who want to meet him and his son as well, I feel for him as well. He needs his dad back, so if anyone out there knows anything please get in touch."
Police have put up a £20,000 reward for information that could lead to officers finding his body, or catching the person who may have killed him.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson said:
"If you don't ask, you don't get. He was a local man in Manchester, the family are very much Manchester based. I'm confident that there's somebody out there that can help us and the family.
"It's something he's never done before. It's a complete mystery and there's no reason he may have gone missing. Please come forward, do the right thing for the family and we can bring any offenders to justice."
