[WATCH] Police issue CCTV of cash in transit robbery

Robbers struck in the afternoon in North Manchester.

Police have issued CCTV footage after a cash in transit driver was robbed in North Manchester.

At around 2pm on Thursday 28th July two men were travelling on a motorbike along Bury Old Road, North Manchester before stopping behind a cash in transit van.

The rear pillion passenger got off the motorbike and shouted at the cash in transit driver to give him the cash box he was carrying whilst brandishing a knife.

The cash in transit driver threw the box, which was empty, at the man who then fled the scene on the motorbike towards the city centre.

Officers investigating the robbery are encouraging anyone who recognises the people in the CCTV footage to get in touch with police.

Detective Inspector Chris Flint of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This is a terrifying robbery that has left the cash in transit driver very shaken.

“I’m appealing to anyone who may recognise the men on the motorbike or the motorbike itself to get in touch.

“I am also appealing to the members of the public in the CCTV images to come forward and give us any information they have about the incident.”
