Fake fifty pound notes

Greater Manchester Police say they have had a number of incidents over the last couple of weeks where forged £50 bank notes are being passed as legal tender.

The notes are crude copies and look as though they have been cut in a guillotine, they also feel unlike genuine bank notes.

They are displaying the serial number AJ13 624091, although they believe other numbers are being used.

They are pictured above thanks to officers at GMP Middleton.

Items bought or attempted to be bought are a Samsung Galaxy S6 off an "on-line buying and selling site" and  £300 worth of flowers that were 'bought' from a florist

The offenders even tried to buy a Monkey sold via a legitimate publication, thankfully the owner realised and didn't hand it over.

Officers are working on leads but are asking everyone to  be vigilant if handed £50 notes especially  if you work in retail or are selling any items privately.
