Update on baby's body found in Rochdale

Detectives investigating the death of a baby whose body was found on an embankment in Rochdale have given us an update this morning (Wednesday 18th April 2018).

A dog-walker discovered the girl on land off Peel Lane in the Heywood area exactly two weeks ago.

Detective Chief Inspector Lewis Hughes has told us they've named her Pearl, which means precious, but her cause of death is unknown and further tests are on-going.

He's appealed to the public to get in touch with the police if they saw anything suspicious in the area and to the baby's mum to let them know what happened and that she's OK.
