Two men arrested in relation to a double stabbing in south Manchester

Greater Manchester Police have arrested two men in relation to a double stabbing in Longsight yesterday (4th February) evening.
The men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
Shortly before 7pm on Tuesday 4 February 2025, GMP received reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Rushford Street and Purcell Street.
Emergency services attended and two males - aged 16 and 20 - were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain. Their injuries are described as not life threatening or life changing.
Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald of the City of Manchester division, said: “We understand the concerns of residents and want to reassure the community that we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat.
“Two males have received injuries as a result of this incident and are being treated in hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.
“We take any type of violence very seriously and will not tolerate it on our streets.
