Two arrested over unsolved murder of Vera Anderson in Warrington in 1991

Police are questioning two people over the unsolved murder of mum of two Vera Anderson in Warrington in 1991.

She was found dead in a car just off Tannery Lane in Penketh on Sunday August 25 1991.

Vera was last seen alive leaving her home in Widnes at around 10pm the previous evening, after receiving a phone call.

Despite a long running appeal by Cheshire Police, nobody has ever been convicted over her death.

Now 70-year-old man from Widnes and a 61-year-old woman from Warrington have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both remain in custody for questioning.
