Three men have been jailed for a combined total of nearly 100 years, for their involvement in the shooting of a teenage boy in Salford.

The 16 year old was attacked while riding his motorbike on Station Road in Eccles on Mother's Day last year (March 19 2023).

Another motorbike pulled alongside the boy and two gunshots were heard. The boy suffered injuries to his arm and chest and was airlifted to hospital.

He was discharged to recover at home a few days later.

Police believe the shooting was targeted and was related to gang activity in Salford.

29 year old Aiden Broadhurst, of Manchester Road, 31 year old Kyle Meighan of Ordsall and Jieh Sufyaan, who's 35 and of Eccles, were all sentenced at Manchester Crown Court.

All were found guilty of attempted murder following a two month trial.

Following the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson of GMP said: “We hope that today’s result will go some way to allowing the victim to heal and move on with his life.

“Every single officer who took part in this investigation is committed to keeping people who live within the local community, safe."

"It is simply unacceptable to have people carrying guns and using these, and we will make it our life’s work to ensure that these kinds of people are taken off the streets.

“We would also like to thank the community of Salford; their ongoing support ensures we can tackle crime together and keep people of Manchester safe.”
