'These wicked people did this to my son' - dad of man attacked outside Oldham nightclub offers £5000 reward
Thomas Hickey was left with life changing injuries in the attack on March 24th
Nearly three months since a young man was left permanently scarred by an attack outside a nightclub in the centre of Oldham, his father has now issued a £5,000 reward to help catch the people responsible.
Thomas Hickey was on a night out with friends on March 24th when he was 'pounced' on by a group of men outside Liquid Envy.
They chased him down a side street and when he tried to escape, he fell and shattered his knee. He was also left with a puncture wound to his back and two stab wounds to his head.
Almost three months on, his dad, Martin, is now offering a £5,000 reward for information:
He said:
"We just want to catch these people, these wicked people that did this to my son. He's not a bad person, he didn't do anything wrong and now he's got a life changing injury. We're so lucky it's not a murder investigation.
"He's not himself obviously, he's withdrawn into himself. He's just suffering, really, but if we get these people it will make such a big difference to him. I don't even want to think about what he went through. He's so lucky, so I don't like to think about it.
"Somebody out there will have this information, and it will be on their minds all the time.
"It would be brilliant if someone was caught, it would help his recovery. It sends out a message that their is a law and if you break it, then you will get caught."
Police investigating the attack say they have spend months scouring CCTV images but that they are now 'frustrated' and need the public's help.
Detective Inspector Iain Harratt said:
"Thomas has done absolutely nothing wrong here. He didn't know there were a group of men over there waiting to pounce. He's escaped with his life, that's the truth of it, he's lucky to be alive.
"The offenders, it seems at the moment, have got away scot free and that can't be right. We need people to help us and we need the community to come together and stand up together.
"For all intents and purposes they just look like average lads, they don't look like monsters, they just behave like monsters.
"It was a busy night, it was a club night on a Saturday. At Envy there's a big smoking area and people must have been around. This is an isolated incident. This isn't a bad place, it's just that occasionally, bad things happen.
"Please do ring us, please ring us. Let us be the judge if your information is valid or not. We have all the information in this case and you could be the person with that golden nugget of information that we need to catch the offenders in this case."To report something to the police,
