Three teenagers arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Cheadle Hulme robbery

Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Stockport have made three arrests.

At around 5.40pm on Sunday 20 June 2021, police received a report of an attempted robbery at a business premises on Worcester Road, Cheadle Hulme.

Officers attended and enquiries established that a group of males had entered and a firearm had been discharged.

No one was injured.

Three males, aged 15, 16 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Moyles, of GMP's Stockport district, said:

"Although the incident was first reported as an attempted robbery, our enquiries have established that it was in fact an attempted murder.

"This news may cause concern but I would like to use this opportunity to reassure the community that we do not believe there is any wider threat and, as always, we are doing everything we can to protect the public.

"Since Sunday evening, the investigation team has been working tirelessly towards making arrests and, with three in custody, will continue to do so until we've established the full circumstances surrounding this incident."
