Teenagers arrested after string of knife point robberies
Phones, jewellery and designer clothes were stolen from people in Manchester City Centre

Two 15 year old boys have been arrested in connection with a spate of robberies in Manchester city centre.
Shortly after 5.20pm on Wednesday 2 January 2019, two teenagers- one armed with a knife- approached a group of people on Market Street in the city centre and threatened them before taking their mobiles phones, jewellery, cash and designer clothing.
A short time later, around 5.30pm, a group of teenagers were approached by two offenders on Spear Street who threatened them with a knife and stole their mobile phones, an amount of cash and designer clothes.
At 6.20pm the same evening a teenager was approached by two offenders on Exchange Square. He was threatened with a knife and forced to hand over his designer baseball cap.
Officers attended the scene and arrested two 15-year-old boys on suspicion of robbery.
Police Constable Peter Martin, of GMP’s City Centre borough says, “We managed to make two arrests, thanks to the quick work of both our neighbourhood officers and officers working under Operation Valiant, which is an operation dedicated to tackling personal robberies in Manchester.
“No one should be subjected to something like this when out and about in the city centre, and the victims have been left shaken by what has happened.
“It’s really important that people feel safe in the city centre and our officers working under Operation Valiant are committed to putting a stop to these sorts of crimes and making the streets of Manchester safer.”
