A 16-year-old boy is among two people who've been seriously injured in a double stabbing in Levenshulme.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Rushford Street and Purcell Street at around 19:00GMT on Tuesday night (04 February).

The teenager and a 20-year-old man were taken to hospital, where they remain this morning (Wednesday 05 February).

Police have confirmed they are still searching for suspects and have not made any arrests.

Extra patrols are being carried out in the area.

Detective Inspector Terina Arthern, from Greater Manchester Police said: “We have launched an investigation, and we are following several lines of enquiry to establish the timeline of events which led to two young men being injured tonight.

“You may notice additional officers deployed in the local area while we conduct our enquiries.

"Please do not hesitate to speak to them if you have any concerns or information you’d like to share.

“We are urging anyone who was in the area this evening who may have seen or heard something, or anyone who has any information that will assist our enquiries, to come forward and speak with police."
